Pauline Hanson Bleaching Pond

(Formerly The George Pell Memorial Font)

Utilising water recycled from the cooling towers of the Atomic Bradman Testing Facility; the Pauline Hanson Memorial Reflecting Pond is designed as a testament to the HHDRS’s commitment to renewable energy and the conservation of the world’s threatened precious resources and cultures.  It stands as a tribute to the eternal truth of one of Sir Harold Holt’s favourite maxims, “you can’t burn asbestos cognac balloons”, the Latin translation of which (Globos cognaci ex asbesto comburere non potes) is chiselled into the granite portico shielding patrons from the prying eyes of tourists utilising the nearby Point Nepean Bungee Park.

The radioactive qualities of the water offer significant medicinal and health benefits, including dermal rejuvenation, and it is especially therapeutic for those suffering from acute acne, carbuncles, or arse shingles.

However, those members seeking to take a plunge are urged to limit their bathing time to under 2.5 seconds and unless wanting whole of body depilation are urged to utilise the lead diving bonnets available for rent from the attendant stand located adjacent to the statue of Narcissus in a wet suit.

NOTE: We regret to inform members that due to an act of vandalism to the recently installed heat resistant lining, the Bleaching Pond is currently undergoing another renovation and will be closed to all members until mid-December 2026.
